We’re Driving for Financial Equality

Whether their goals are to work on the pit crews of championship-winning teams, design new car technologies, or own and lead auto racing organizations, we want to help bring women to the starting line to help get their careers in motorsports going. That’s why PNC and Chip Ganassi Racing launched the Women In Motorsports initiative — to help inspire the next generation of engineers, mechanics and other motorsports-related careers.

"Cultivating opportunities to build out the pipeline of female innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders is critical to closing the economic gender gap. We all recognize that a diverse workforce can spark innovation in the workplace and influence economic inclusion for all. This program reflects our commitment to create opportunities for women."

—Debbie Guild, PNC head of Enterprise Technology and Security

Chip Ganassi

"We’re extremely proud to continue making steps toward gender equality in our sport. It is vital that we maintain a welcoming environment where every individual has an equal opportunity to make an impactful contribution toward reaching our goals. We’re honored to share this vision and advance this program together with PNC Bank."

—Team Owner, Chip Ganassi

Testimonials from Past Interns

“I now see how much having women in the paddock or in STEM as role models for
young girls can be really important to show them that it is possible and that it’s not just a boy's club.”

“I gained so much experience through the internship that I will continue to use in my career. Just the ability to apply the knowledge that I gained through my courses and build on that knowledge with real-life experience and the help of the experienced team members around me.”

“I learned how to work on my own at Chip Ganassi Racing. In a classroom setting, you are given the basics and a lot of answers are handed to you. However, the project I did at Chip Ganassi Racing implored me to learn how to effectively research and ask concise questions. I see now how much my abilities have improved since the internship and how much more confident I am in my skills.”

Girls at the Track Days

A group of girls visiting behind the scenes of an INDYCAR race

Hosted by PNC and CGR, these private events give local groups of girls the opportunity to attend select NTT INDYCAR SERIES races. Aspiring engineers, crew chiefs, drivers and team owners learn where their passion could take them by getting a behind-the-scenes experience at a race along with an INDYCAR team and meeting women who work in the motorsports industry.
